Hayman Island Holidays and Visitors Information

Hayman Launch

Location

Hayman Island is located 33 kilometres (20.5 miles) due east of Australia's North Queensland coast, nestled between the coast and the Great Barrier Reef in Australia's fabled Whitsunday passage.

Hayman Island is 294 hectares in area (726 acres), the resort is contained within an area of 13 hectares (31 acres) situated on two white sand beaches on the southern side of the island around a beach lagoon. Hayman's idyllic setting and closeness to the reef makes it a superb location for all water sports, including snorkelling and diving. A walking trial circles the island past a number of secluded bays and craggy points and to the various outlooks.

To the south, Hook Island, Whitsunday Island, and South and North Molle islands are visible. Close to Hayman, smaller islands such as Black Island (locally known as Bali Hai) and Langford Island present popular picnic and snorkelling locations with sandy beaches and coral growths. Bali Hai is only 10 minutes by boat from Hayman and a must for lazy sun-soaked picnics. The islands close to Hayman are all National Parks and provide excellent opportunities for glorious boating, whether under power or sail.
