Hayman Island Visitors Information
Hayman
Island has a tropical climate but with less average rainfall than measured
on the mainland in nearby Proserpine. From March/April through September
and October the island is fanned by the SE Trade winds.
During these months the temperature is always equitable. The summer months are warm and sultry. July is the coolest month, January the warmest.
Hayman's tropical climate means the days are warm and the atmosphere is very relaxed. A light jacket or sweater may be required for evenings during the cooler months. Beachwear and casual attire is suitable during the day.

Location
Hayman Island is located 33 kilometres (20.5 miles) due east of Australia's
North Queensland coast, nestled between the coast and the Great Barrier
Reef in Australia's fabled Whitsunday passage.
Hayman Island is 400 hectares in area (960 acres), the resort is contained within an area of 13 hectares (31 acres) situated on two white sand beaches on the southern side of the island around a beach lagoon. Hayman's idyllic setting and closeness to the reef makes it a superb location for all water sports, including snorkelling and diving. A walking trial circles the island past a number of secluded bays and craggy points and to the various outlooks.
To the west, the mainland of Australia is visible, and to the south, Hook Island, Whitsunday Island, and South and North Molle islands. Close to Hayman, smaller islands such as Black Island (locally known as Bali Hai) and Langford Reef present popular picnic and snorkelling locations with sandy beaches and coral growths. Bali Hai is only 10 minutes by boat from Hayman and a must for lazy sunsoaked picnics. The islands close to Hayman are all National Parks and provide excellent opportunities for glorious boating, whether under power or sail.
